Many of us remember (or were) the kid who wore braces in the 5th grade. Now that we are adults, the last thing we want to do is wear metal braces to straighten our misaligned teeth. Yes, we want the best smile possible, but braces are a non-starter. The good news is that today there are actually options and ways you can straighten your teeth without braces!
Common Options To Straighten Your Teeth Without Braces
Speak to Manhattan Dental Arts about each of the following options. Some are more appropriate for those with minimal correction needed vs. significant correction.
Hidden or “incognito” braces are a popular form of braces available today. They are called “hidden” because no one can see them since they are attached to the back of your teeth. They are obviously customized for each patient’s mouth, and no one can see them whether you’re smiling or talking.
They are more costly, but a good alternative to traditional braces if you need a good deal of alignment.
The newer retainers are transparent and much less noticeable because they fit over the entire arch of the mouth. This is a good option if you only need a small amount of correction, and they are less expensive than metal braces.
A porcelain veneer is a device that fits over the front of a tooth. It’s a quick fix, and can disguise a multitude of problems like misalignment, crooked or discolored teeth.
Note this is an irreversible change and the veneers must be replaced approximately every ten years.
This newer and popular option to straighten teeth works faster than braces and virtually no one will know you are wearing them. Manhattan Dental Arts will do a 3-D map of your mouth to create trays. You wear each one for 2 weeks before the next version changes out to slowly correct your teeth.
You must wear them for at least 20 hours a day only removing them to eat and brush your teeth. Our office in the upper west side is dedicated to providing the highest quality dental care to patients throughout New York City.
